Moody's Diner: Not Just for the Pie

You really go for the pie, right? I usually sit with family in a booth and order typical diner fare followed by their famous pie. This trip was for a crab roll and I was solo. I sat at the counter and watched all the waitress activity at the pie case. I came to learn that Moody's has a big cream puff following, with reservations on puffs and fears of going a cram puff famine.

I ordered the homemade baked beans with a dog special and chased it with a crab roll. Moody"s crab roll comes in at a mere $6.95 in late Summer '08. They offer a lobster roll too at $11.95. I was floored by the crab roll. I expected it to be like Fat Boy's with too much mayo (white binder), or whatever they use. Moody's roll was outstanding and a bargain to boot: textbook preparation, except the lettuce. I am off my soapbox about lettuce, so long as it is iceberg- the kind with zero nutritional value.

I picked up an 8 oz container of crab meat from Gilmore's in Bath and noted that the label indicated a company in Waldoboro was the supplier. I am guessing that Moody's, being in Waldoboro, has the same supplier?

Moody;'s is a great diner and they serve an excellent crab roll.
